Careful. Xiomara Laugart bites like a Cobra when you mess with her money. The “Celia” star and singer, didn’t do the off-Broadway gig in Miami because of “money issues,” she said in a concert in New York City.
“Do you want to know the honest truth or the lies behind the publicity?,” said Xiomara to a group of spectators at the “Summer Nights at El Museo” in the Museo del Barrio. “It was about money… because we didn’t agree on a stupid figure I am not doing ‘Celia’ in Miami. But I’m doing it in Tenerife [Spain],” she added laughing.
But the real scoop behind all of this is perhaps the fact that the agency producing the show in Miami, Cardenas Marketing Networks, is not a saint of anyone’s devotion.
Miami industry execs visiting the Big Apple for the Latin Alternative Music Conference last week said that “Cardenas Marketing Networks has a bunch of nasty people” and it was probably a fact that they never wanted Xiomara to do the show in Miami after all.
Instead, they opted for Anisa Gathers, an obscure Puerto Rican talent who people say no one knows about.
So the battle of the “Celias” has begun. Bring out your coffee mugs cause there is going to be plenty of ”azúcar” being tossed from both sides.
