Show your booty and earn a crown. That’s pretty much the story [of the] behind the new Miss República Dominicana US 2008, Mariela Lucas.
Before being elected as the US candidate for the up-coming Miss RD Universo 2008 beauty pageant in the Dominican Republic, as reported by Miguelrosario.com, the young Dominican model showed it all –and a bit more– as a Smooth Girl in a recent issue of Smooth magazine, known for its racy covers and attention-starved models.
The erotic pictures were first highlighted by DJ Creme on La Mega 97.9 FM in New York City a few months ago, when Lucas paid a visit to the high-testosterone radio show.
The DJ posted a few of these photos in his MySpace page www.myspace.com/djcreme.
Though in the show she just talks a bit about her modeling career, there was no mention of her intentions of participating in the beauty pageant but took the time to plug her new spread in the glossy publication.
Hopefully she’ll get to travel to the Dominican Republic and earn the crown there too, so that we, starving writers wannabes, have something to blog about.
Gimme a break. If you consider this racy, you must be going ga-ga over the simplest Victorias Secret catalog pics.

She’s supposed to be running for Ms. Dominican Republic, unfortunately though because of this pic she will never win even the Ms. Dominican Republic pageant. She didn’t in Ms. Dominican Republic. Instead she won a smaller pageant that they have in washington heights called ms. dominican republic eeud, us. It’s a small hometown pageant done in NYC to give someone an opportunity to compete in the DR pageant. It doesn’t have major sponsors and is not affiliated with anything. All the past winners are educated or have a degree and are of social status in the dominican republic, unfortunately for 24yr Mariela this pic and her lack of education doesn’t help. This girl went on to community college and didn’t even finish a year. She also just got breast implants paid by her boyfriend an older man who sells cars at major world in queens, ny.
Ok, I understand that we cannot limit blogs on what can or cannot be posted, based on Freedom of Speech; however, you must keep in mind that your rights end where another’s begin.
First of all, if you’re going to report on NEWS, you should include the whole news. The alleged images of Ms. Lucas in SmoothGirl magazine are no different than the images that you may have viewed or will view in MAXIM magazine; for which, If I’m not mistaken have featured spreads of Shakira, Eva Longoria, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, Christina Aguilera, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz and many, many more loved and respected latinas. Does it make them any different? So should have Ms. Lucas waited till after winning the crown to do the images? That would’ve made it more acceptable for you?
If you’re going to look at the picture, look at the whole picture. If you’re going to post 1 pic, post them all. This image referenced in this article is the most revealing of the images.
Articles like this one prompt individuals like the blogger before me to post comments or information such as the one indicated above. Yet, they do not have all the proper information and should be careful when posting information like that because it crosses the line into what is legally known as ‘Defamation of Character’. As defined by wikipedia: ‘In law, defamation (also called calumny, libel, slander, and vilification) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. False light laws are ‘intended primarily to protect the plaintiff’s mental or emotional well-being.’[3] If a publication of information is false, then a tort of defamation might have occurred. Just to clarify some information. Ms. Lucas participated and won, Miss Dominican Republic, U.S., or as it is more commonly known, Miss R.D.U.S. which owns the franchise rights to prepare and send the official representative of the Dominican community in the U.S. to Miss Dominican Republic Universe and other respective pageants. So before discrediting the event as one that just took place in Washington Heights, be advised that this event was widely advertised and the casting call was sent out via press release and viral and did receive contestants from other states. So it’s not just limited to Washington Heights as the individual indicated.
Then the individual goes on to speak about Ms. Lucas’ education. I have to say, this is obviously someone who has never had the opportunity to engage Ms. Lucas in a conversation and has no clue about her educational background. Ms. Lucas is a graduate of the State University of New York [Purchase College] with a Bachelors in Journalism and a minor in Photography. She worked as a Journalist in her college as well as working as a reporting correspondent on a showed which aired via La Familia Cosmovision on local access television.
This is obviously an individual that feels the need to comment on situations they know nothing about.

This type of bad publicity has been going on for several months now and in investigating who is behind many of these comments, we’ve learned that it’s either frustrated contestants, who never made it, from the Miss R.D. U.S. pageant, admirers’ jealous girlfriends/ex-girlfriends, and/or rejected admirers.Be advised, each and everytime an individual visits a website, their I.P. address registers. An I.P. address for those who don’t know is like your computer’s social security number. As we continue to look into these types of postings, we may ask legal representatives to petition a court within jurisdiction to subpoena the I.P. addresses of users/visitors from the different site providers.

Hmmmmm, what ever happened to freedom of speech????Regrets of the racy picture…..hmmmmmmm. Anyway I didn’t say it was “limited” to washington heights but was “held” in washington heights. I do know Ms. Lucas and am 100% positive that she did not graduate from Purchase. I am just saying that this woman will most likely not win because of her racy picture. The truth is these crowns are usually bought, as this one was allegedly bought by Victor Almonte and the previous year was allegedly bought by Tony Pena (I am not stating that neither of these are true or false) and these pertain to the dominican us pageant even though the DR pageant has also been bought. Yes there are many famous latinas that do spreads in Maxim (which is just like smooth lol, my apologies better than maxim, ha ha) and look great doing it. (I can’t believe you actually think smooth magazine is as reputable as Maxim? One look by anyone and we can all tell this is a Ghetto magazine and very low class) But these woman do spreads after they become famous AND not 1 Ms. Universe contestant has ever won or been in a pageant with this kind of racy picture. The standards for these contestants are very high and unfortunately for Ms. Lucas usually the point of picking a countrys winner is that they might actually win the Ms. Universe pageant. Which correct me if I am wrong but that is where the winner of the upcoming Ms. Dominican Republic contest will eventually compete. I can see that the truth hurts. And believe me I am not a hater, M is pretty and even prettier esp with the extensions, implants and photo shop. If you took all the Dominican and even Pr woman in Wash Heights, Queens or everywhere in NYC and bought them nice clothes, even at H & M and Bebe like Ms. Lucas, extensions, implants and some mac makeup and a coach, NYC would be in trouble. I think the point that was trying to be made was the following, Nowadays with all of the competition out there, plastic surgery, extensions, photoshop it is difficult to find real natural beauty. Posing for a magazine the way she did was tasteless, because unfortunately Smooth Magazine isnt up to par with better known publications. For example, do black and spanish people not read? You say the difference between smooth and maxim is the readers are into hip hop? So why is it that Barnes and Noble has stated that they would never sell a magazine like that? I dont agree with all the hating but do agree that because this young lady exposed herself in this negative way and to this kind of shall we say “negative” audience. She will never make it. I also looked up her pics in google, and cmon guys reality is reality. The girl isnt a monster but you can clearly see that in some pics she looks gorgeous and in others, wow…sadly if that is the real her, then Carlos Peralta is a genius, along with that make up artist. In regards to any comment posted in this blog about this girl….I saw this woman last night at my grandparents in house and was told she won a Dominican beauty contest which made me interested in looking this up,which I did and actually was true.This girl is Freaking Gorgeous!!!She has a Beautiful face + Amazing Smile + Her main feature probably is her beautiful eyes!She smiled the whole time she was there which anyone can tell a mile away shes a very down to earth beautifull person inside as well.So for these bunch of hater comments I have read..Please stand 2 feet away from this MAMI and you will convince your self she´s fucking beautiful!I dont know this woman but my parents know her aunt or someone related.Pero na pa lante Mariela…WHEN U SEE SOMEONE CRITICIZE YOU IS CAUSE YOU ARE SUCCEDING!!GOOD LUCK!;)
