Hillary… where in the heck were you?

While President Clinton was heading to North Korea in a private plane chartered by  multimillionaire movie producer Steve Bing to rescue two American journalists sentenced in North Korea to 12 years of hard labor after they were accused of entering illegally into the country, our current Secretary of State was MIA.

Aides to the former President say it was a “humanitarian” assignment but the White House has only limited its opinion saying they are happy that Laura Ling and Euna Lee are back in the US. But why Bill and not Hillary?

There are tons of speculations and many say that our Secretary of State is not settled in her post yet and is not ready to deal with a task such as this one. Others say that the North Korean president Kim Jong Il hates women and so her visit, if ever allowed, would have been usesless.

During a press conference, the US Secretary of State said that the journalists rescue was “a totally separate issue from our efforts to re-engage the North Koreans.” Is she playing it safe or is she right?

Many say this will bring more headaches than benefits and other terrorist countries will start kidnapping Americans just for fun so that they too get the chance to see a high-ranking US government official visit their country.

If that’s the case, thank God that Sarah Palin quit!
